Started in 1973 as a car ferry named ‘Gustav Vasa’, the ship was later converted and began serving as the readers’ favorite, “Logos Hope”, in February 2009. The ship sails to different port cities around the globe.
Its journey to Cardiff is the latest milestone in its glorious history. Logos Hope officially docked at the beautiful Britannia Quay in Cardiff Bay on 12 September 2026. Locals and bystanders witnessed the arrival of the giant charmer, as readers became determined to check out the vast collection of books.

Inside, guests step onto a specially modified vessel that houses thousands of affordable titles across various genres. Nautical Setting Backdrop: Logos Hope is a unique floating book fair. It helps visitors enjoy reading on board a ship. The nautical setting and the soothing feel of the waters make it a ‘once-in-a-lifetime’ experience for the people.
Vast Collection of Books: The book fair offers a wide range of books for visitors. Readers can choose from 5000 titles, covering several subjects such as Christianity, education, technology, fiction, history, and children’s books. All books are available at highly affordable rates.
Cultural and Global Diversity: The ship is operated entirely by an International crew of 400 volunteers from 60 -65 different nations. These volunteers work on the ship of their own will, free of cost.
Interactive Experiences – Beyond shopping, the ship offers more excitement to the visitors. The ship has an International Cafe where visitors can enjoy a good cup of tea or coffee and other snacks, while chatting with crew members. The ship also features interactive family events where they can stroll through a welcome area and get a firsthand experience of life on a ship.

Logos – Verwer launched his first vessel in 1970. It was titled MV Logos. He began the Floating Bookfair to spread “The Word of God”. Logos is a Greek word meaning “The Word”. It relates to Jesus Christ, described as “The Word” in the Bible (Gospel of John). It also signifies the printed Word, meaning books and literature.
Hope – On acquiring the larger vessel Logos II in 2004, they added the word ‘Hope’ to it. They wanted to signify that they were offering Help, spiritual hope, and education to the people. In this way, they wanted to spread knowledge and a message of Hope throughout the world.

George Verwer was a passionate preacher and is known for revolutionizing modern ministry. Ships became the best vehicle for the mission of his organization, Operation Mobilization.
