As reported by North Wales Live, the Seat Leon collided with a house on Canal View in Chirk Bank, uk/local/wrexham/">Wrexham, at around 10pm on Saturday, October 31. The occupants escaped uninjured, while the driver was arrested and taken to hospital.

North Wales Police said the incident began at 9.54pm, when a vehicle failed to stop for officers. In a statement issued to North Wales Live, a police spokesperson said:

“The driver had been in short pursuit with a police vehicle after failing to stop for officers. Following the pursuit, the driver entered a road closure and collided with a bridge, before hitting the front of a residential property.”

The force said the driver was arrested before being taken to hospital, where they continued to receive treatment for an injury. It added that no injuries were reported inside the property and that enquiries into the collision were ongoing.

Was Anyone Injured In The Crash?

West Midlands Ambulance Service said it was called at 10.01pm to reports that a car had collided with a property on Canal View. According to the service, one ambulance attended the scene.

A WMAS spokesperson told North Wales Live: “The driver, a man, sustained potentially serious injuries in the collision. He received treatment on scene before being conveyed to Royal Shrewsbury Hospital for further care.”

North Wales Police confirmed that no one inside the house was injured. The car remained inside the property, upside down, on Sunday morning.

How Did The Car Reach The House?

The car is understood to have ploughed through metal fencing blocking a bridge over the Shropshire Union Canal, where repair work was taking place. As reported by North Wales Live, a neighbour said the vehicle then hit debris on the bridge before travelling down a bank for about 20 metres and entering the front room of the house.

The property was described by North Wales Live as the village’s former post office and shop, which closed in 2000.

What Did Neighbours Say?

Neighbour Ella St John told North Wales Live that she had been watching television when she heard the impact. She said: “I was just sitting in the living room watching the TV waiting for Tom Jones to come on and I just heard this almighty bang. I saw all these lights flashing, there were all these stones all over the path, I could not believe it. It was like a warzone when I came out.”

Another neighbour, Mick Holford, told the publication that the sound resembled an explosion. He said: “It sounded like an explosion. I looked out the back because I thought something had fallen off an aeroplane or something. Then I looked out the front and there was a lot of shouting and blue lights and trying to get the bloke out of the car, so I thought ‘I don’t know what’s going on here’ and shut the door.”

What Police And Ambulance Services Confirmed

North Wales Police confirmed the collision occurred at 9.54pm on Saturday, October 31, and said the driver had been in a short pursuit after failing to stop. The force said the driver entered a road closure, collided with a bridge and then struck the front of a residential property.

The force also confirmed the driver’s arrest and said the person was receiving hospital treatment. West Midlands Ambulance Service separately confirmed the driver’s transfer to Royal Shrewsbury Hospital after on-scene treatment.

Background Of The Development

Chirk Bank is a village in Wrexham, North Wales, near the Shropshire Union Canal. The house involved was formerly the village post office and shop, according to North Wales Live, and closed in 2000.

The bridge involved was reportedly subject to repair work and had metal fencing in place as a road closure. North Wales Police said the driver entered the closure before colliding with the bridge and the house.

Prediction: What This Means For Local Residents

For residents of Chirk Bank and nearby communities, the incident is likely to renew attention on road safety around canal-side bridges, temporary road closures and police-pursuit routes. The damage to a residential property and the presence of a car inside the home may also prompt discussion among neighbours about protective barriers, signage and emergency access near repair works.

For homeowners, the case highlights the importance of checking home insurance cover for vehicle-impact damage and documenting any damage promptly for insurers and loss adjusters. For drivers, the police statement indicates that failing to stop for officers can lead to a pursuit, with serious consequences for the driver, other road users and nearby residents.

For the wider North Wales community, the ongoing police enquiry may determine whether further action follows. Until then, the confirmed facts remain that the occupants were uninjured, the driver was arrested and hospitalised, and investigations into the collision are continuing.
