LIVERPOOL, UK – Liverpool-based vocalist Ms Sunny Sarah is building on more than two decades of musical experience as she works towards establishing a full-time career in the music industry, combining her passion for performance with a mission to inspire others through music.

Blind since childhood, Sarah discovered her love for singing while still at school and knew from an early age that music was the path she wanted to follow. She later attended the Royal National College for the Blind in Hereford, where she achieved A Levels in English and Media Studies and earned distinctions in Music and Radio Drama through a BTEC National Diploma in Performing Arts.

Her professional journey began in 2003 when she secured her first paid performance singing with a jazz band at a garden party hosted by a local Member of Parliament in Banbury, Oxfordshire. The opportunity opened doors to the local music scene and led to connections with several respected musicians, including members of the legendary folk-rock group Fairport Convention.

Over the years, Sarah has performed alongside members of the band on several occasions and recorded a version of the jazz standard Lover Man featuring Fairport Convention fiddle player Rick Sanders. Through industry contacts, she was also introduced to songwriter David Gordon, brother of Yusuf Islam, formerly known as Cat Stevens. Gordon later provided two original songs, Waiting Patiently and This Is My Life, which Sarah recorded in 2006.

Alongside her musical achievements, Sarah has remained committed to supporting creative opportunities for people with disabilities. While living in Oxfordshire, she worked with Ithaca, a charity dedicated to supporting disabled artists, helping to facilitate workshops, participate in theatre productions, and perform at community events.

A major personal milestone came in 2016 when Sarah wrote and recorded her original song, The Happiest Day Of My Life. The project was arranged as a special gift by her husband and allowed her to experience the songwriting and recording process firsthand with professional mentoring and studio support.

As part of her ongoing efforts to reach wider audiences, Sarah is also expanding her digital presence. Music lovers can explore her performances and follow her musical journey through her YouTube channel at https://www.youtube.com/@sarahmellorsings, where she shares recordings and showcases her versatility across multiple genres.

Throughout her career, Sarah has supported numerous charitable causes and community events. She performed at a fundraising event for Trinity Hospice in Blackpool and has appeared at several public celebrations organised through Wyre Borough Council, including events marking Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee and the Coronation of King Charles III.

A cabaret performance at Liverpool’s Unity Theatre, organised by disability arts charity Dada, proved to be a turning point in her journey. Inspired by the city’s vibrant creative community, Sarah and her husband later relocated to Liverpool, where she has been actively seeking new opportunities since 2024.

Now undergoing a professional rebrand with support from employment and business development specialists, Sarah hopes to expand her work not only as a singer but also as a voice artist and facilitator of singing-for-wellbeing workshops. Her long-term ambition is to perform full-time, collaborate with industry professionals, and tour more extensively across the UK and beyond.

“As a blind performer, I’ve had to overcome challenges throughout my career, but music has always given me a way to connect with people,”

Sarah said.

“I hope to continue growing as an artist, reaching new audiences and encouraging others to follow their dreams.”

Performing a wide range of genres, from jazz and folk to contemporary music, Ms Sunny Sarah believes music has the power to unite people from all backgrounds. As she enters the next stage of her career, she remains focused on creating new opportunities, sharing her story, and bringing her music to audiences across the country.
